Music Spotlight: Michael Macri
Michael Macri
By Isaac Davis Jr., BGS, MBA
FriendsMIX's The Indie 411 recently caught up with Rocker
Michael Macri. The artist, who is from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia,
certainly commands respect when he is performing. What has drawn me to
his music is its variety of genres. This is something that many artists
have not been able to master yet. I think once folks get a glimpse of
his music they will love him too as we do. Check out this quick Q&A
that we completed with Michael recently. Enjoy!
Isaac: Elaborate on who you are and your upbringing.
Michael: Michael Macri. Work during the day, musician at night.
Isaac: Was there any one musician that spoke to your heart so profoundly, you were inspired to do your own thing?
Michael: Not only one but many, too many to mention.
Isaac: Which singer/group would you say you would most like to do a duet with?
Michael: Stevie wonder.
Isaac: What singer/songwriter do you most connect with?
Michael: There are many, from Cole Porter to Chris Isaak.
Isaac: Out of your entire song collection that you've written thus far, which song(s)
would you say is/are the most personal/meaningful to you?
Michael: Beautiful World.
Isaac: Which singers/groups do you enjoy/like from some of today's music genres?
Michael: Buble, Green Day, Chris Isaak, Andrea Bocelli to hard to mention them all.
Isaac: What charities are you involved with or support?
Michael: There's no particular one; I support many when I can.
Isaac: Have you (or would you ever consider) writing a song about any of today's
particular world issues/problems? If so, what world issue would speak to you the most to
write about?
Michael: I have written about events that have happened in other songs which I haven't yet recorded.
Isaac: Why should people listen to your music?
Michael: Because I have something to say and I write from the heart.
Isaac: What has been the greatest moment for you as an entertainer thus far in your career?
Michael: There have been many to single out one. As long as I can sing, I am in heaven.
Isaac:
How far into the creation of a song do you share any of it with anyone?
Who would you play it for? Would it be a chorus, a verse and chorus, or
a complete song?
Michael: When the song is completed.
Isaac: How much do you let others "mess around with" one of your new songs?
Michael: Not much if at all.
Isaac: Do you have to be a tortured soul to be a singer-songwriter?
Michael: Personally I don't think so.
Isaac: Do you prefer to write music from your own personal experience, life's issues, or a little of both (explain why)?
Michael: I don't think much about it. When it comes, I write; whether it's about life or not.
Isaac: How long does it take you to process your emotions and turn them into songs?
Michael: It varies on my mood and surroundings.
Isaac: The best piece of advice you actually followed?
Michael: Do what makes you happy.
Isaac: Give Shutouts to your family and friends.
Michael: I don't understand this Question.
Isaac: Last but certainly not least, what are you working on, now?
Michael: My next album.
